How to set template specific from name, from address and signature settings

To have the Glide system send messages (both e-mail and SMS messages) using template-specific values for any of the following, ('from name', 'from address' and 'signature'), you will need to follow to below steps: (Note, you will need to have set up the message template first, click here to see how if you haven't already.)

  • Click on the menu labelled with your business name.
  • Click on the Messaging Centre option. If you can't see this check the settings or contact Glide Support.
  • You shall see 3 tabs across the screen; Messaging Centre, Options and Template Editor. Click on Options.
  • In the section labelled Email Settings, you will see Advanced email sending rules. Click on this text.
  • Select either, New Custom From Name, New Custom From Address, or New Custom Signature, if you want to create a rule using all three options for one template, select New Rule Collection. This will create all three options in one go for you to then customise later.
  • From the dropdown menu select the template you wish to make unique and then select OK.
  • You will see the new rule type appear above under the template you have selected.
  • Select the 'Choose Option' button.
  • You will have a new dropdown menu appear and you can select one of the following:
    • Manually entered value - Ability to put in custom text or email address.
    • Client Partner and Client Manager - These options will take the associated client partner/manager information from the client's card. Here's a link about how the Client Partner and Client Manager roles work.
    • Any job positions (eg. Preparer) will be next, this option will select the relevant team member that has been placed on the specific job card. Here's a link about what these job positions could be. (Please note that if you are utilising automatic sending rules, it is crucial to ensure that the specified job positions are occupied before the activation of the automatic sending triggers. We recommend implementing traffic lights to guarantee that the job position is filled before the action button is pressed).
  • If you have selected a Manually entered value, you can select the pencil icon and enter the custom text or email address.
  • To activate the rule, click on the red state square and it will go green with a tick. This rule is now live on this template.
