How to create a new contact
You can create a new contact in one of two ways, either individually in the Glide system or in bulk using the Excel import tool.
Individually:
To create a new contact in Glide follow these steps:
- Navigate to a client card that the contact will be linked to and click on the contacts tab.
- Click on the add contact button.
- Click on the create new contact radio button. Remember that if the contact already exists, either as a contact or an individual client, then you do not need to create them again as you can link them to multiple clients.
- Enter the name of the contact.
- As you are also linking to a client you can enter a description to describe the relationship to this client, you can also apply the first tag. Tagging is relevant if you wish to send this contact e-mail or SMS messages through the Glide system. You can read about this here.
- Click create.
- If you are planning to send e-mail or SMS messages to this contact through Glide you would then want to click on the contact's name and enter an e-mail address and mobile phone number.
In bulk using Excel import tool:
To import contacts using the Excel import tool you would follow the guidance here. There are only a few columns that need to be completed for a contact, as follows:
- Column A 'UniqueID' is the code for the contact and must be unique across all contacts and clients in the Glide system.
- Column C 'Type' is 500 for contacts.
- Columns E, F and G for the title, first and last names.
- You can also take the opportunity to import the e-mail address and mobile phone number should you plan to contact the client through the Glide system via e-mail or SMS. The exact column reference will depend on the number of custom fields you have.
