Set a client-specific budget
Every client is different. A client-specific budget lets you set the time for one client, section by section, in place of the template's defaults. Glide uses it for every new job created for that client.
Before you start
- The sub-system must have an Active budget template. See Create a budget template for a workflow sub-system.
- You need to be a super user or in the Can edit client and job budget allocations permission list.
See a client's budget
- Open the client.
- Click Workflow Systems and choose the workflow system, for example Accounts.
- Scroll down below the client's jobs. There is a Budget Template panel for each sub-system with an active template.

The panel shows the budget that this client's next job will receive: each section, each line's Position (job position and description), Minutes, Rate and Value, a Section Total for each section and a Template Total. Sections shaded blue are using the client's own allocations; the others are using the template defaults. If the workflow system has more than one sub-system, there is a separate panel for each, headed Budget Template for [sub-system] sub-system.
Edit the client's budget
Click Open Budget Template on the panel. The client budget page opens.

- Budget Template Totals shows the client's total budgeted time in minutes and hours, and its total value.
- Each section shows either the template's defaults (grey) or the client's own allocations (blue, with a Specific to [client code] badge).
- Back to [client name] returns you to the client card.
Make a section client-specific
- Expand a grey (default) section and click Create Client Specific.
- If the section has default allocations, Glide offers to copy them to get you started. Click Yes, create. From now on the defaults are ignored for this client in this section.
- If the section has no defaults, Glide asks whether you want to create a new client-specific allocation, and opens the allocation form.
Add, edit or delete client allocations
- Click Add Budget Allocation in a blue section to add a line.
- Click the pencil to edit a line, or the bin to delete it. Deleting cannot be undone.
The fields are the same as for default allocations: Budget Allocation Description, Job Position, Minutes, Rate (£/hour), Value (£) (worked out for you) and Status. See Add default budget allocations to a template for what each field means. Client allocations always follow the section's On Scheduler setting.
How Glide decides between defaults and client allocations
As soon as a client has at least one allocation of its own in a section, that section is client-specific: only the client's lines are used and every default in that section is ignored. To go back to the defaults for a section, delete all of the client's lines in it.
When does a client budget take effect?
Client allocations are copied onto new jobs when they are created. Jobs that already exist for the client keep their current budget. To change one of those, open the job and edit its budget. See View and edit a job's budget.
